The University of Wisconsin Department of Psychiatry in Madison, WI, is seeking to recruit a new tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level. The Department has identified stress and resilience, sleep and plasticity, and brain development as critical areas for research to advance knowledge about the origins and early phases of many mental health disorders. Research can be at any level, including areas relevant to genetics, molecular, neurocircuit-based approaches, or psychopharmacology. The UW Department of Psychiatry, along with the Health Emotions Research Institute (HERI), has strong research programs with outstanding facilities, including a 3T MRI housed in the Lane Neuroimaging Laboratory and the Wisconsin Institute for Sleep and Consciousness. The University of Wisconsin-Madison is a leader in translational biomedical research and offers many opportunities for collaboration with other departments and world-renowned research centers such as the Waisman Center, Departments of Psychology, Neuroscience, Pediatrics, and Computer Sciences and Engineering, and the Center for Healthy Minds at UW. The successful applicant will also participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health, working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members. The Department of Psychiatry is committed to basic and clinical research that furthers the understanding and development of new treatments for patients with mental illness, strives for excellence in training the next generation of leaders, and provides patient care to a broad range of patients.
