About The Position

Michigan State University's Department of Physiology and College of Osteopathic Medicine are seeking applications for a tenure-system faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank. The ideal candidate will investigate the role of the peripheral nervous system in regulating physiology and disease, with potential research areas including neuroimmunology, organ-brain communication, neuroendocrinology, autonomic neuroscience, sensory biology, neurovascular interactions, neuro-metabolic regulation, and neural mechanisms of chronic disease. Special interest lies in understanding how peripheral neural circuits interact with other organ systems to maintain homeostasis or contribute to pathology. The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain a funded research program, contribute to teaching at graduate, undergraduate, and professional levels, and participate in departmental and university service. Opportunities exist to join interdisciplinary graduate training programs such as Neuroscience, Molecular Cellular Integrated Physiology, and Biomedical Sciences. The department offers a collaborative research environment with strengths in neuroscience, immunology, metabolism, cardiovascular biology, and systems physiology, supported by state-of-the-art core facilities. MSU also promotes interdisciplinary collaborations across colleges and with clinical partners.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
  • Demonstrate the potential to develop an internationally recognized research program.
  • Investigate the role of the peripheral nervous system in the regulation of physiology and disease.
  • Research areas of interest include, but are not limited to, neuroimmunology, organ-brain communication, neuroendocrinology, autonomic neuroscience, sensory biology, neurovascular interactions, neuro-metabolic regulation, and neural mechanisms underlying chronic disease.
  • Address how peripheral neural circuits interact with other organ systems to maintain homeostasis or contribute to pathology.
