About The Position

The Department of Immunology in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time teaching stream position in Immunology and graduate education development. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2027. The University of Toronto is an international leader in Immunology research and education and the Department of Immunology is home to a vibrant and diverse academic community. We seek candidates who are passionate about graduate teaching, demonstrate a commitment to inclusive and evidence-based pedagogy, and can prioritize graduate student well-being. The successful candidate will join a dynamic group of teaching stream faculty who are actively engaged in curriculum development, pedagogical innovation, and student mentorship. The Department of Immunology’s graduate curriculum includes courses that span foundational to advanced topics in immunology.

Requirements

  • Earned a PhD degree in Immunology by the time of appointment.
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and mentorship, particularly in graduate education.
  • Teaching experience in teaching and administration/management in a degree-granting program, including lecture preparation and delivery, program design, curriculum development, and development of material/lectures at the graduate level.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry.
  • Demonstrated interest in graduate education teaching-related scholarly activities and focus on student academic progress and well-being.
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching and a commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry will be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, the teaching dossier (including the required materials outlined below), and strong letters of reference.
  • Submission of a cover letter, a current curriculum vitae, a recent writing sample, a complete teaching dossier (including a teaching statement, sample syllabi and course materials, and teaching evaluations), and the name and contact information of three references. At least one reference letter must primarily address the candidate’s teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the Admissions and Awards committees and developing and implementing effective processes to support admissions and awards operations.
  • Integrating disciplinary expertise with best practices in teaching to create inclusive, engaging, and research-informed learning environments that support student success and inspire the next generation of immunologists.
  • Contributing to the academic life of the department through service activities such as academic advising, program development, and participation in departmental initiatives.

Benefits

  • The salary range is 113,300-$125,000 per annum, depending on experience.
  • Negotiations beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
