About The Position

The Department of Languages and Linguistics at The University of Tampa seeks an Assistant Professor of Spanish specializing in Peninsular Spanish. This is a tenure-track position. The successful candidate will contribute to the undergraduate Spanish curriculum by teaching elementary, intermediate, and advanced Spanish language courses, as well as upper-division courses in their area of expertise. The department is looking for a candidate with a strong background in Peninsular literature and cultural studies, with additional interests in areas such as film and visual culture, digital media and digital humanities, Iberian studies, or contemporary cultural studies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and to current, proficiency-oriented and technology-enhanced approaches to language instruction.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Spanish or a related field.
• Specialization in Peninsular Spanish.
• Strong background in Peninsular literature and cultural studies.
• Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching.
• Proficiency in proficiency-oriented and technology-enhanced approaches to language instruction.
• Ability to attach a cover letter, current curriculum vitae, scholarly writing sample, teaching philosophy, and a copy of your terminal degree transcript.
• Ability to provide the names and email addresses for three (3) reference providers.
