About The Position

The School of Management within the College of Business and Economic Development at The University of Southern Mississippi—a Carnegie R1 Top-Tier Research Institution—invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Management starting in August 2027. This role will support our undergraduate and graduate programs. The role includes research, teaching, student mentoring, and active engagement within the professional community. We seek a dynamic faculty member who brings significant professional experience in management to bridge classroom concepts with real-world industry practice.

Requirements

  • A conferred PhD in management or other explicitly business-related discipline from an AACSB-accredited institution by August 2027.
  • A promising record of high-quality research and publication.
  • Documented evidence of serving as the Instructor of Record for at least two university-level courses.
  • Deep knowledge of management principles, practices, and contemporary industry trends.
  • Knowledge of instructional design and classroom management for both traditional and online delivery formats.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to provide timely and effective student feedback.
  • Skill in utilizing Learning Management Systems (such as Canvas), online teaching tools, and standard office productivity suites (Microsoft Office).
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, interact productively, and communicate respectfully with a highly diverse student body and staff population.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality research and publish in well-respected journals.
  • Teach three courses per semester (or equivalent), including undergraduate and graduate courses in management as determined by the Director of the School.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching across both online and in-person formats, with a focus on designing and delivering impactful experiential learning opportunities.
  • Contribute actively to curriculum development to ensure all course offerings maintain strict relevance and alignment with current industry trends.
  • Partner with faculty across the institution to successfully integrate management concepts into wider interdisciplinary university programs.
  • Maintain an active professional development and networking presence within the regional and national community.
  • Mentor undergraduate students, support undergraduate research initiatives, assist with student recruitment, and participate in service activities across the School, College, and University.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
