About The Position

The Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology will provide subspecialty breast imaging services across clinical sites at the University of Kansas Medical Center. This role includes delivering evidence based, patient centered diagnostic imaging and image guided procedures across a range of breast conditions and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support patient care. The position supports a dedicated breast imaging practice and includes opportunities for education, clinical research, and academic engagement.

Requirements

  • MD or DO (or equivalent). This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements, institutional standards of academic and professional excellence, alignment with peer institution benchmarks, and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.
  • ABR board certified/eligible in Diagnostic Radiology.
  • Eligible for licensure in Kansas and Missouri.

Responsibilities

  • Provide subspecialty breast imaging interpretation and consultation, delivering evidence based diagnostic imaging services across a range of breast conditions.
  • Interpret breast imaging studies including screening and diagnostic mammography, digital breast tomosynthesis, breast ultrasound, and breast MRI.
  • Perform image guided breast procedures including stereotactic, ultrasound guided, and MRI guided biopsies and preoperative localization procedures.
  • Complete timely and accurate documentation and reporting of imaging studies and procedures to support continuity of care and billing requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including breast surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, and pathology to support patient care and treatment planning.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary conferences, departmental meetings, seminars, and faculty activities as permitted by clinical and academic responsibilities.
  • Instruct and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows in clinical and educational settings; provide coaching appropriate to the learner’s level and evaluate learner performance.
  • Engage in scholarly activity, clinical research, and quality improvement efforts aligned with the missions of the Department.
