About The Position

The Department of Psychology at California State University, Fullerton, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Psychology with a focus on Personality Psychology and individual differences, including Psychological Disorders, with an appointment to begin Fall 2027. Research areas of interest for this position are open; however, we have a preference for approaches involving Large Language Models (LLMs), computational methods, behavioral genetics, or biological methodologies. Applicants may conduct research in a wide range of subfields within personality psychology. Possible subfields include, but are not limited to, traits, motives, biological perspectives (neuroscience, evolutionary, behavioral genetics), development and health, affective and cognitive science, and narrative approaches to personality. CSUF faculty are committed teacher-scholars who bring research and creative discovery to life for students in classrooms, labs, and individually mentored projects. They teach broadly in the curricula of their departments, advise students, and serve on departmental and university-wide committees. Candidates are expected to teach courses in psychology that include, but are not limited to, Personality Psychology and other courses within their area of expertise. Candidates must also demonstrate willingness to mentor and support both undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds. This position is for a psychologist with a strong emphasis on research, teaching, and mentoring. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to and participate in the life and development of the department, advise and mentor students, serve on committees, and participate in the broader university and disciplinary communities. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuroscience, or related field. ABDs may apply but must show evidence that the degree will be completed by the appointment date.
  • Research focus on Personality Psychology and individual differences, including Psychological Disorders.
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to excellence in teaching and mentorship.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct scholarship that leads to publications and/or external funding.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering an equitable and inclusive environment through activities in research, teaching, and mentorship.
