About The Position

The School of Psychology at Xavier University is seeking to fill a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank, commencing Fall 2027. This role will contribute to both the APA-accredited clinical psychology doctoral (Psy.D.) program and the undergraduate psychology major. The Psy.D. program is recognized for its success and 10-year APA accreditation, attracting competitive applicants nationwide and admitting approximately 18 students annually. Students receive generalist, practitioner-scientist training with specializations in Child and Adolescent, Individuals with Severe and Chronic Problems & Psychopathology (ISCPP), and Healthcare Psychology (HCP). The program boasts a high success rate for student internships and graduate licensure. The undergraduate program serves 170-200 students and emphasizes empirical and critical thinking skills, with all majors participating in research projects. Faculty are expected to teach in both undergraduate and graduate programs.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) from an APA-accredited clinical psychology, counseling psychology, or related program.
  • Licensed or license-eligible in the state of Ohio (expectation of Ohio license within one year of hire).
  • Expertise in development, children, and/or adolescents.
  • Capability to teach and supervise cognitive assessment.
  • Training in clinical neuropsychology, particularly as it relates to development, children, and/or adolescents.
  • Interest in teaching statistics and research methods, and/or supervising undergraduate research and doctoral dissertations.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 18 credit hours annually, contingent on meeting the College’s active scholarship requirements.
  • Develop a program of research.
  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate research.
  • Provide service within the School of Psychology and the University.
  • Potentially provide clinical supervision to Psy.D. students.
