About The Position

The College of Dentistry at The Ohio State University is seeking a qualified and passionate individual to join our dental hygiene program in a temporary placement position as an assistant professor-practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dental hygiene, clinical experience, and a commitment to educating and mentoring the next generation of dental hygienists. This is a part-time, one semester placement with responsibilities in teaching, clinical and laboratory supervision for the Summer semester. Depending on candidate pool, the position may be offered at 16 hours per week to one candidate or 8 hours per week to 2 candidates.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene.
  • Current Ohio licensure as a dental hygienist.
  • Meets OSDB requirements to administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide sedation.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education and clinical practice.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional support in pre-clinical and laboratory sessions.
  • Evaluate student work according to established rubrics.
  • Foster a positive and interactive learning environment that promotes student engagement and success.
  • Maintain current educational methodology professional development.
  • Provide hands-on clinical supervision and education to dental hygiene students during patient care procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with established protocols and ethical standards in the clinical setting.
  • Offer constructive feedback to students to enhance their clinical skills and professionalism.
  • Evaluate student work according to established rubrics.
  • Foster a patient-centered, team oriented learning environment.
