About The Position

This position is a full-time, non-tenure-track Assistant Professor of Practice in Civil Engineering with an anticipated start date of August 2026. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching multiple undergraduate and graduate courses in civil engineering, including associated laboratory sections as assigned. The appointee will also be expected to participate in curriculum development, student mentoring, and service activities in support of departmental, college, and university initiatives. The Civil Engineering program at The University of Akron is recognized for its commitment to academic excellence, applied scholarship, and student achievement. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
PhD degree in civil engineering or a closely related discipline from a nationally recognized institution prior to the effective date of appointment.

Nice To Haves

Evidence of effective teaching and/or significant professional practice experience in civil engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) licensure, or the ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe.
