The Political Science Department at San José State University is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in U.S. politics with a focus on Latina/o/x/é politics and public policy. The ideal candidate will investigate how Latina/o/x/é political participation and policy preferences impact political representation, power, and policy outcomes in their communities. Additionally, the position involves examining how governing institutions, including immigration law and civil rights, shape policy outcomes in areas such as healthcare, education, legal protections, environmental policy, and social welfare for Latinx/é communities in the U.S. The role includes contributing to program growth through research and teaching, developing new curriculum, and participating in shared governance. Faculty are expected to organize classes within the Canvas Learning Management System and demonstrate awareness of and experience in supporting a diverse student population through inclusive teaching strategies and advisement. All employees are mandated reporters and may be designated as Campus Security Authorities requiring specific training. Compliance with assigned CSU employee training is also required.
