About The Position

The Department of Exercise & Sport Science at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse is seeking applicants for a 9-month tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses, advising students, maintaining currency in their content area, evaluating student work, assessing student outcomes, providing feedback, maintaining records, and holding office hours. The candidate is also expected to maintain an active, on-going program of scholarship and provide service to the department, college, university, community, and/or professional organizations. The College of Science & Health (CSH) is the largest academic unit at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse, known for its strong tradition of faculty mentorship, hands-on undergraduate research, and graduate education. The position is affiliated with the School of Education (SOE), which emphasizes inclusive teaching practices and a welcoming environment.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Physical Education, Adapted Physical Education, Health Education or a closely related field discipline or related field. The degree must be earned by the end of the first academic year.
  • Evidence of the ability to be an effective instructor.
  • Evidence of clear and effective communication skills.
  • Currently holds or previously held a license in physical education, adapted physical education and/or school health education.
  • Minimum of 3 years physical education and/or school health education teaching experience in U.S. PK-12 schools or the equivalent

  • Demonstrate knowledge of and experience planning, teaching, and assessing standards-based physical education and school health education
  • Demonstrate knowledge of adapted physical education pedagogy
  • Evidence of an emerging research agenda related to physical education, adapted physical education and/or school health education
