About The Position

California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) is seeking to fill two Assistant Professor positions in Strategy/Organization Theory within the College of Business, Department of Management and Human Resource Management. CSULB is a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and an Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution (AANAPISI) with a strong commitment to student success, diversity, and inclusion. The role involves teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, engaging in research leading to publications, and participating in service activities. The College of Business is accredited by AACSB International and serves a large student body, while the MHRM Department is one of the largest in the college, offering multiple majors, minors, and core courses. Requirements

  • Ph.D. or D.B.A. in Business, Management, or Strategy, with a concentration in Strategic Management or Organizational Theory; Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2027
  • Demonstrated potential to effectively teach and engage in curriculum development for Strategic Management or Organization Theory subjects at the undergraduate and graduate level
  • Demonstrated potential for research leading to peer-reviewed publications
  • Demonstrated potential to contribute in service roles to the department, college, university, and community
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including low socioeconomic and first-generation students

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in teaching classes with a focus on strategic management or topics within organization theory
  • Expertise in case analysis and writing assessments for undergraduate program; strategy-related teaching expertise will be considered
  • Strong research pipelines and have published or are under review in journals of recognized quality in the Strategy and Organization Theory fields
  • Experience successfully working with diverse student populations, including those from a range of demographic and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Experience mentoring or supporting students using inclusive and culturally relevant teaching strategies in a diverse classroom

Responsibilities

  • Teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Primary teaching assignment will likely include undergraduate courses in strategic management and organization theory. (Mode of instruction may include in-person, hybrid, online, and/or any combination thereof.)
  • Engage in research, scholarly and creative activities leading to conference presentations and publications
  • Participate in service to the department, college, university, and community
