About The Position

Campbellsville University is seeking an Assistant Professor of Sport Medicine with a PhD in Kinesiology. This role involves teaching professional courses in sport performance, exercise science, kinesiology, and sports medicine, as well as NASM certification courses online. The position also includes serving on various committees, advising students, and engaging in professional service. Faculty are expected to develop course content, maintain office hours, participate in recruitment and retention initiatives, and support the university's Christian mission by serving as a role model and promoting the discipline. Responsibilities also include developing online courses, assisting with syllabi preparation, contributing to grant requests, monitoring student progress, and demonstrating excellence in teaching. Responsibilities

  • Teach professional courses in sport performance, exercise science, kinesiology, and sports medicine.
  • Teach NASM certification courses in an online format.
  • Serve on departmental, school and/or university committees as assigned.
  • Serve as academic advisor for division majors.
  • Engage in professional service.
  • Develop lectures, demonstrations, assignments, and enrichment activities to successfully deliver course content.
  • Maintain regular office hours for advising students.
  • Participate in events and initiatives aimed at meeting departmental and divisional recruitment and retention goals.
  • Accept assignments on committees, sponsor student activities, and actively participate in University life.
  • Support the institution’s Christian mission, including attendance at chapel services, scheduled or called meetings, commencement programs, and Faculty Forum meetings.
  • Provide a Christian role model for students.
  • Maintain a strong interest in the pursuit of knowledge and share it with students and scholars.
  • Promote the discipline on and off campus and attract students to the field.
  • Maintain contact with alumni and the community.
  • Participate in academic unit meetings and cooperate with other members of the Faculty.
  • Identify with professional organizations and professionals of the discipline at all educational levels.
  • Assist in recruiting new Faculty members within the academic unit.
  • Assist the Chair in the preparation of class schedules and material for the University Bulletin Catalog.
  • Develop online courses and assist in teaching fully online courses.
  • Assist in developing syllabi for courses in the discipline.
  • Assist in the preparation of requests for foundation grants.
  • Assist students by continually monitoring and evaluating students’ progress and making appropriate referrals to academic and personal support services, as necessary, to meet student needs.
  • Demonstrate excellence in teaching.
  • Serve as an academic advisor.
