About The Position

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is seeking a qualified candidate to teach as a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor of Spanish. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of applications will begin immediately; position will remain open until filled. Start date is January 2027. This is a residential appointment, and campus presence is required.

Requirements

Ph.D in Spanish required (ABD considered).
Second language acquisition.
Expertise in, but not limited to, one or more of the following fields: Latin American literature, translation/interpretation, Latin American culture and civilization.
Commitment to teaching excellence with a strong generalist academic background.
Ability to work effectively in a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Must pass a pre-employment background check.

Nice To Haves

Experience in linguistics and/or study abroad programs is a plus.

Responsibilities

4/4 teaching load, scholarship, and service.
Teaching load will include 1000- and 2000-level foundational Spanish courses in addition to a variety of upper-division courses.
Courses may be offered in-person, hybrid, or online.
Serve the institution and remain active in the profession by maintaining a consistent record of scholarly research that includes publications and presentations in peer-reviewed venues.
Mentorship of student research.
Regular and predictable attendance required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
