About The Position

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Spanish and Hispanic Studies with a specialization in 20th and 21st Century Spanish Peninsular literature and culture. The successful candidate will join a faculty with a strong commitment to research and teaching, contribute significant scholarship to their field, and teach a wide range of language, literature, and culture courses to undergraduates. The department emphasizes inclusion and belonging, and faculty participate in interdisciplinary programs. Lehigh University, founded in 1865, is a highly ranked research university with approximately 7,500 students and nearly 600 full-time faculty members, located in Bethlehem, PA.

Requirements

  • Earned Ph.D. in Spanish or a closely related field by the date of employment.
  • At least one year of teaching experience in US institutions at the college level, including graduate fellowships.
  • Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialization in 20th and 21st Century Spanish Peninsular literature and culture.
  • Ability to contribute to interdisciplinary programs such as Global Studies, Latin American and Latino Studies, and Film and Documentary Studies.
