Assistant Professor of Sociology
About The Position
The Department of Social Sciences at Bethune-Cookman University invites applications for one full-time, tenure-track Sociology position to support the undergraduate program. The area of specialization is open, but preference will be given to applicants with specialization in family, medical sociology, or social work. The successful candidate will teach a minimum of four courses each semester (except during summer semester). Teaching during the summer semester will be available, depending on student enrollment. Applicants will be required to teach through both online (using Teams or Zoom apps) and face-to-face modalities.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Sociology (for Assistant Professor rank).
- Excellence in teaching and service.
- Commitment to an active research agenda (for PhD faculty).
Nice To Haves
- Specialization in family, medical sociology, or social work.
- Online teaching experience.
Responsibilities
- Teach a minimum of four courses each semester (except during summer semester).
- Teach through both online and face-to-face modalities.
- Creative/scholarly research in the field.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Regularly scheduled office hours (10 hours per week minimum).
