About The Position

The Program of Sociology at Northeastern State University invites applications for an assistant professorship in sociology. We seek a generalist to offer courses in introduction to sociology, social problems, and social statistics. Areas of specialization are open, but a focus on criminology and deviance is desired. Further, the ability to integrate active learning and digital resources into the classroom, along with a willingness to teach face-to-face or online, is expected. The anticipated start date is January 2027. Duties include a 4/4 teaching load, encompassing both core courses and elective offerings in the candidate’s areas of specialization.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in sociology preferred by time of appointment; ABD considered.
  • Previous teaching experience desired.
  • Must provide an original social security card during the hiring process.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
