About The Position

The School of Social Work at The University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for three full-time, Assistant Professor of Practice positions. Positions 1 & 2 are for the Online DSW Program, offering the possibility of remote work, and focus on launching and growing UTA’s new online Doctor of Social Work program. These roles are suited for practice-seasoned educators passionate about shaping doctoral-level curriculum, mentoring advanced practitioners and scholar-practitioners, and building a program culture from the ground up. There is an opportunity to teach in the online MSW program and collaborate closely with program leadership to define excellence in online DSW education. Position 3 is an in-person role at UTA West, a new hub located at the intersection of I-30 and I-20 in Parker County. This role involves being a founding faculty presence, building relationships with a new regional student population and community partners, teaching across BSW, MSW, and doctoral levels, and shaping social work education at UTA’s newest location. This position is ideal for an educator seeking visibility, ownership, and a direct hand in establishing UTA’s presence in a high-growth region.

Requirements

• A doctorate in social work or a related field (ABD or degree completion within two years will be considered).
• A master’s degree in social work.
• A minimum of two years of post-master’s practice experience.
• Teaching experience, whether in the classroom or through professional development offerings and trainings.
• Capacity to teach across multiple course topics and program levels (bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral).
• Ability to teach via multiple instructional delivery methods, including service-learning, experiential learning, and virtual/online formats.

Nice To Haves

• For the Online DSW positions: experience with doctoral-level curriculum design, advanced clinical or macro practice scholarship, and online andragogy.
• For the UTA West position: experience building community partnerships and a track record of engagement with regional practice or civic organizations.
• Evidence of a commitment to teamwork, service, and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Teach eight classes per academic year (4:4 load), delivered online, face-to-face, or hybrid depending on position and program need.
• Provide service to the School of Social Work, the University, the community, and the profession.
