About The Position

The Assistant Professor of Nursing is a 9-month, tenure-track, full-time faculty position at the University of Arkansas. This role involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses both on campus and online, conducting research that leads to peer-reviewed publications and presentations, and supervising students' scholarly activities. The position also requires service to professional organizations, the department, college, and university. This is an in-person position requiring on-campus presence for essential functions such as office hours, student advising, collaborative work, and committee meetings. The successful candidate will be part of the Arkansas Health Research and Solutions cluster hire initiative, contributing to research aimed at addressing significant health challenges in Arkansas and beyond. The position reports to the Executive Director of the Eleanor Mann School of Nursing.

Requirements

• Earned doctoral degree from an accredited university in nursing or a related field (e.g., PhD, DNP, EdD, DrPH) conferred by the first date of employment
• Graduate degree in nursing from an accredited institution of higher education
• Evidence of or promise of success in research/scholarly activity
• Evidence of or promise of effective teaching
• Eligible to hold an unencumbered RN license with the Arkansas State Board of Nursing and secured by the first date of employment
• Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment

• Research doctorate in nursing (i.e., DSN, DNSc, PhD) conferred by the first date of employment
• Innovative research agenda in adult, geriatric, or chronic health care
• Experience working with federally funded projects or equivalent supporting high-impact research
• Ability to develop an independent and collaborative research agenda
• Evidence of or strong potential to engage in interdisciplinary collaborative research

Responsibilities

• Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, on campus and online
• Conducting research leading to high-impact peer-reviewed publications and presentations
• Supervising students’ scholarly activities such as undergraduate honors research, master’s and Doctor of Nursing Practice scholarly projects
• Serving professional organizations, the department, college, and university
• Maintaining on-campus presence for essential functions like office hours, student advising, collaborative work, and committee meetings
