About The Position

This position involves curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation of classroom and clinical instruction. It also includes student advising and registration. Active participation in the NYSCAS BSN Nursing Program committees is expected for the continued evolution of the program.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a MS/MA in Nursing from an accredited institution required.
  • Must hold an unencumbered NY State Professional RN license.
  • Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer or Health Provider by the American Heart Association.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in clinical practice, preferably in any of the following specialty areas: medical-surgical nursing, telemetry, emergency nursing, psychiatry, obstetrics, and critical care.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctor of Nursing preferred.
  • Certified Nurse Education certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the highest level of professional integrity and commitment to professional nursing.
  • Maintain a frequent and active presence on campus, be available for counseling and advising students, and participate in activities that promote student-academic interaction.
  • Meet assigned course load and contact hours each semester/year, being on campus at least three full days per week.
  • Attend mandatory faculty meetings, college and departmental functions, and informational sessions.
  • Ensure punctuality and attendance for all assigned teaching commitments, and make up any missed classes/clinical sessions.
  • Maintain posted office hours (minimum two hours per week) and be available for appointments outside of office hours if necessary.
  • Inform students of mid-term and end-term progress in advisement meetings.
  • File a course outline (syllabus) with the Director for every course, including detailed objectives, topics, requirements, assignments, test dates, and evaluation criteria. This syllabus should be distributed at the beginning of each semester.
  • Carefully review rosters provided by the Office of the Registrar and report any discrepancies.
  • Complete all attendance rosters and verify the attendance of all students.
  • Submit all final grades to the Registrar in a timely manner.
  • For Course Coordinators of courses with a clinical laboratory: manage the course, plan the curriculum, develop and distribute the syllabus to clinical instructors, develop tests, schedule class and clinical sessions, and correspond with clinical instructors and facilities.
  • Participate in committees, including the preparation, writing, and editing of Accreditation reports, candidacy drafts, and self-study reports to the Accreditors and the State.
