About The Position

Southwestern Community College District (SWCCD) is seeking a full-time, tenure-track, equity-focused nursing faculty member committed to serving its culturally diverse student population. The position involves teaching Medical-Surgical and Geriatric Nursing, including classroom, skills lab, and simulation lab instruction, as well as supervision of clinical laboratory and other related classes. Responsibilities include curriculum development and evaluation, participation in program assessment and accreditation activities, collaboration with health care agencies and clinical partners, student advising and mentoring, and engagement in shared governance and college services. Faculty are expected to maintain current knowledge and competency in medical-surgical nursing practice, integrate principles of equity and inclusion into instruction, and contribute to a learning environment that supports the diverse educational goals of community college students.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• Active, unencumbered California Registered Nursing License.
• Direct patient care experience within the previous five (5) years in acute care medical/surgical and/or geriatric nursing, which can be met by either: One (1) year's continuous, full-time or its equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in acute care medical/surgical and/or geriatric nursing.
• OR One (1) academic year of registered nurse level clinical teaching experience in acute care medical/surgical and/or geriatric nursing or its equivalent that demonstrates clinical competency.
• California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) approval is required to teach in the Nursing Program.
• Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications of the position will be screened for BRN approval.
• Additional assessment is required for applicants with foreign degrees from colleges or universities outside of the United States.
• Applicants must have their coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) and must submit a copy of the evaluation with the application.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s Degree or higher in Nursing.
• Possession of a Certified Nurse Educator Credential.
• Courses/degree in nursing education.
• Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator Certification (CHSE).

Responsibilities
