About The Position

The College of Fine Arts and Communication at Towson University invites applications for a tenure-track, nine-month, full-time Assistant Professor of Music Theory in the Department of Music. This position's primary responsibility is teaching music theory and musicianship. The department seeks a student-centered educator who can bring professional experience and innovation to the undergraduate theory curriculum. Candidates with a broad understanding of diverse musical practices and traditions are preferred. The preferred start date is August 2027.

Requirements

Doctorate in music theory or a closely related field (ABD candidates will be considered but must have completed a doctoral degree prior to appointment).
Excellence in teaching theory and musicianship skills.
A promising scholarly agenda.
Capacity to serve the administrative needs of the Department of Music, the College of Fine Arts and Communication, and Towson University.

Candidates conversant with a wide range of musical practices and traditions.
At least two years of university-level teaching experience.

Responsibilities
