About The Position

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Richmond is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin in the 2027-2028 academic year. The department is open to applicants from various fields within mathematics, with a particular interest in those with expertise in applied mathematics, broadly defined, who can support the mathematical economics major. The role involves teaching undergraduate students across the curriculum, contributing to the core mathematics program, and offering upper-level electives. The position includes a 3-2 undergraduate teaching load. Successful candidates are expected to maintain an active research program, potentially involving undergraduates, and serve on department and university committees. New faculty will benefit from a year-long collaborative mentoring program and resources from the Faculty Hub. The department aims to equip students with theoretical and computational skills for diverse post-graduation opportunities.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, or a related field must be completed prior to the start date
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to liberal arts teaching
• Address experience with, or commitment to, fostering an inclusive and welcoming campus community for a diverse student body in the cover letter
