About The Position

The Management Department of the School of Business Administration at The University of Mississippi invites applications for a faculty position in OB/HR/Management at our main campus in Oxford, Mississippi. This is a tenure-track position beginning Fall 2027, and is open for the rank of Assistant Professor of Management. The University of Mississippi is situated in Oxford, MS, an extraordinarily livable city featuring all that is best about living in the South. Oxford is a one-hour drive south of Memphis, TN and is known as the home of Nobel Prize winning author William Faulkner. Oxford has also been featured as a literary and arts destination in such publications as The New York Times, Southern Living, Condé Nast Traveler, and GQ. ESPN and USA Today rated Oxford as the best college town in the country in 2021 and 2024. The community hosts numerous annual events, including the Oxford Film Festival, the Double Decker Arts Festival, and performances through the Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts. Residents also enjoy a thriving local music scene, outstanding restaurants, and abundant recreational opportunities. Requirements

  • An earned doctorate degree (or hold ABD status with expected degree completion prior to August 2027) in Management or a related discipline.
  • A track record of original research and publication in elite management journals.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to world-class scholarship, effective teaching, and service.
  • Curriculum vitae, cover letter, and evidence of effective teaching must be submitted.
  • At least three references will be required from candidates invited to campus.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching responsibilities may include undergraduate, MBA, and/or doctoral-level courses in Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, and related areas consistent with the candidate’s expertise and departmental needs.
  • Successful applicants are expected to maintain an active research agenda with the potential to publish in high-quality scholarly journals, and to provide service to the university and the profession.
  • The normal teaching load for a research-active faculty member is 2/2 (6 credit hours per semester, Fall and Spring) with the option to teach intersession, summer courses and/or online courses for additional pay subject to course and funding availability.
