About The Position

The Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture (RRSLA) at Louisiana State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in computational landscape architecture. The school seeks a designer-researcher whose teaching, research, and creative practice explore how computation and emerging technologies can expand the intellectual, environmental, spatial, and cultural possibilities of landscape architecture. The successful candidate will use technology as a means of design inquiry, connecting technological experimentation with ambitious design thinking and a clear scholarly or creative agenda. Teaching responsibilities span the professional Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) and Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) programs. The successful candidate will teach design studios and courses or seminars integrating computational methods and emerging technologies; review design projects; advise undergraduate and graduate research; and contribute to curriculum development. Teaching should guide students beyond technical proficiency toward the critical and creative use of technology in the design process. The candidate will contribute to RRSLA’s design-education program and advance the discipline through nationally and internationally visible research, scholarship, or creative practice. LSU is located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana’s capital. The university and school offer opportunities for studio investigations, scholarly activity, funded projects, interdisciplinary research and teaching, and student field experiences. College resources include Hilltop Arboretum, a fabrication lab, woodshop, computer labs, robots, drones, 3D printers, CNC machines, laser cutters, and virtual reality headsets. The position is tenure-track, and salary and rank depend on qualifications and experience. An offer is contingent on a satisfactory pre-employment background check. Candidates must have valid U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and maintain it throughout employment.
