About The Position

Wofford College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of International Affairs to join its Department of Government and International Affairs starting in fall 2027. Wofford’s faculty teach a 3-1-3 load, with the '1' indicating the January Interim course term where professors may travel with students or teach on various topics using experiential methods. Wofford faculty are teacher-scholars with a high aptitude and interest in undergraduate teaching and advising, community outreach, and a commitment to the liberal arts. To earn tenure, faculty must demonstrate excellence in teaching, continued scholarly development, and sustained service to the college. Therefore, faculty members are expected to engage with the department and participate in the college community, pursue scholarly research, and continue professional development.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Political Science, equivalent, or closely related field.
  • One-year full-time teaching experience or its equivalent.
  • Broad training in International Relations and Comparative Politics.
  • Ability to teach a range of introductory and upper-level International Relations and Comparative Politics courses.
  • Ability to teach our introductory course in International Relations.
  • Ability to teach a course on international institutions.
  • Ability to teach at least one of the following: international law, American foreign policy, Latin American politics, European politics, and/or introductory research methods.
  • Inclusive pedagogical approaches that aim to engage with a vibrant student community.
