About The Position

Columbia College Chicago is seeking a dynamic contemporary music artist/professional and educator for a full-time teaching-track Faculty position in Music Production and Creative Direction within the School of Audio and Music (SAM). This role involves supporting and assisting in the coordination of the music production curriculum and serving as the creative producer for the School’s primary performances and guest artist series. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses, advise students, and contribute to curriculum development, with a focus on contemporary popular music. A significant service commitment as creative producer for student performances and guest artist series will reduce the standard teaching load from 12 to 6 credits per semester. The School of Audio and Music is a vibrant community fostering creativity, collaboration, and the creation of original sonic content, preparing students for careers in audio and music through a multidisciplinary environment engaged with new creative economies and technologies.

Requirements

  • A master’s or other terminal degree in music production or technology. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree and significant professional experience may also be considered.
  • Evidence of successful coordination and management of musical artists and performances.

Responsibilities

  • Teach at the undergraduate level in areas assigned by the School Director.
  • Engage with the broader scholarly and professional communities.
  • Supervise and advise and mentor students.
  • Contribute to the development, planning and implementation of a high-quality curriculum.
  • Commit to continuing professional development.
  • Provide essential service as creative producer for the School of Audio and Music.
  • Actively follow and promote Columbia College Chicago policies.
