About The Position

The Fine Arts Department at Indiana University South Bend invites applications for a Tenure-Track faculty position in printmaking. The ideal candidate will be an artist-scholar with expertise in printmaking, possessing a strong understanding of aesthetics, visual literacy, art history, and contemporary art issues relevant to printmaking and fine arts. This full-time position (100% FTE) involves teaching two printmaking classes and one general education course per semester, totaling 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester. One course will have reassigned time for scholarly and creative activities, in accordance with university and campus policies. The faculty member will also be responsible for contributing to departmental service, engaging in scholarly/creative pursuits, mentoring students, and managing the printmaking studio. The position begins August 1, 2027, with the opportunity for tenure application in the 6th year of service. Indiana University South Bend is the third-largest campus in the Indiana University system, serving the north central Indiana community. The Fine Arts Department offers B.A. and B.F.A. degrees in studio arts and art education, with a mission to integrate traditional and innovative approaches, merging technical skills with conceptual and critical understanding, and educating students on the impact of visual arts on society.

Requirements

• Artist-scholar specializing in printmaking.
• Understanding of aesthetics, visual literacy, the history of art, and contemporary issues in art as related to printmaking and fine art practices.
• Ability to teach fine art students, particularly those with a concentration or minor in printmaking.
• Ability to manage and maintain the printmaking studio.
