About The Position

Marian University Plymouth seeks a Full-Time Non-Tenure Track Faculty Member in English to promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by delivering high-quality instruction in English courses, fostering critical thinking and communication skills, and contributing to a collaborative academic environment. This position supports student learning and academic excellence at the Plymouth, Indiana location through effective teaching and engagement. The faculty member reports to the Academic Dean at Marian University – Plymouth for day-to-day operations and collaborates with faculty at Marian University – Indianapolis for curricular development and discipline collaboration. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to engage diverse student populations while representing Marian University in a professional and mission-centered manner.

Requirements

  • An English or equivalent graduate degree.
  • 3-5 years of experience teaching/instruction at the college level.

Responsibilities

  • Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.
  • Teaching load: 24 credits per academic year.
  • Share in the ongoing development and implementation of department and college activities and projects.
  • Actively take part in curriculum implementation and activities of the Department of English in partnership with MU Indianapolis Campus.
  • Engage in scholarship and other professional development activities.
  • Mentor students through advising, internships, and service learning-learning opportunities in the community.
  • Provide support to the student commons (student tutoring and resource space) with writing support.
  • Serve as an academic advisor for students and oversee internships, mentorships, and service-learning opportunities for students in collaboration with the larger community.
  • Participate in university, community , and campus service, including participation in faculty governance and co-curricular programs.
  • Take part in special project work, academic and student retention committee work and leadership and/or student club advising/mentorship.
  • Assist and actively engage with retention and recruitment efforts for the program (and the college) in partnership with the Admissions team and Student Success and Engagement team.
  • Partner with student support services for tutoring needs and develop supplemental instructional materials, and assist students with review, study guides, and academic support outside of the classroom.
  • Other duties as assigned.
