About The Position

Eastern New Mexico University is seeking an Assistant Professor of Elementary Education for its Portales, NM location. This role involves teaching undergraduate and graduate elementary and special education courses in various formats, including face-to-face, lecture capture, and online. The professor will be responsible for developing and revising course content to meet accreditation and stakeholder expectations, ensuring student success on licensure exams, and establishing relationships with agencies for field placements. Collaboration with the Teacher Education Office and other faculty is expected for placement protocols. The position also requires data reporting, analysis, and synthesis for program planning, maintaining office hours for student advising, attending departmental and university meetings, and engaging in scholarly publishing and presentations. Service to the profession and the University is also expected, along with other assigned duties. Background and reference checks may be conducted.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. (ABD) in Elementary Education or closely related field.
  • 3 years K-8 teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate/graduate elementary/special education courses in various formats (face-to-face, lecture capture, and/or online).
  • Develop and revise appropriate content for courses to meet expectations of various accrediting bodies and stakeholders.
  • Assure student success on required licensure exams.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with agencies for field placements.
  • Work collaboratively with the Teacher Education Office and other faculty to establish placements and placement protocols.
  • Report, use, analyze, and synthesize data for program planning with program and department faculty.
  • Maintain regular office hours to advise and assist students.
  • Attend departmental and university faculty meetings and external meetings as required.
  • Maintain engagement in publishing and presenting scholarly works pursuant to the field.
  • Provide appropriate service to the profession and University.
  • Other duties as assigned.
