The Department of Economics at San José State University is seeking an Assistant Professor of Economics to begin in August 2026. This position is particularly interested in candidates with research and teaching interests in Urban Economics, Regional Economics, and Spatial Data Analysis. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, conducting research, engaging students in applied projects, supervising student research, and collaborating with colleagues across disciplines. A demonstrated ability, or strong potential, to secure external research funding is highly desirable. The Department of Economics, within the College of Social Sciences, serves approximately 340 undergraduate and 30 graduate students, with a diverse student body. The department offers BS and BA degrees in Economics (including an SJSU Online BA), a Minor in Economics, MA degrees in Economics and Applied Economics, and a 4+1 Accelerated Master Program. All BS and MA programs are STEM-designated. The department comprises 7 tenured faculty and 15 lecturer faculty with expertise in various economic fields, and hosts an Experimental Economics Lab.
