The Department of Economics at San José State University is seeking an Assistant Professor of Economics to begin in August 2027. This position is particularly interested in candidates with research and teaching interests in Urban Economics, Regional Economics, and Spatial Data Analysis. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, conducting research, involving students in applied projects, supervising student research, and collaborating with colleagues. A demonstrated ability or strong potential to secure external research funding is highly desirable. The Department of Economics, within the College of Social Sciences, serves approximately 340 undergraduate and 30 graduate students, with a diverse student body. The department offers BS and BA degrees in Economics, an SJSU Online BA, a Minor in Economics, an MA in Economics, and an MA in Applied Economics, with STEM-designated BS and MA programs. The department comprises 7 tenured faculty and 15 lecturer faculty with expertise in various economic fields, including a unique Experimental Economics Lab.
