About The Position

Eureka College is seeking applicants for a tenure-track position in Criminal Justice, with expertise and/or teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: legal system, corrections, and law enforcement. The position is housed in the Social Science and Business Division and supports the Sociology program. We are specifically looking for candidates who are committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching and can employ a variety of methods in the classroom to reach the College’s diverse student body. Annual teaching load is 4-4. Special consideration will be given to candidates who embrace an interdisciplinary approach to teaching and can contribute to the College’s unique “10 Essentials” general education program. Faculty are expected to advise students, serve on departmental and college committees, and continue professional activity and/or scholarly research.

Requirements

  • Terminal degree in a relevant field (e.g., Ph.D. in Criminal Justice or Ph.D. in Sociology with specialization in Criminal Justice/Criminology) or be ABD with the requirements for the Ph.D. completed by the time of appointment August 1, 2026.
  • Expertise and/or teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: legal system, corrections, and law enforcement.
  • Commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching.
  • Ability to employ a variety of methods in the classroom to reach a diverse student body.
