About The Position

Computer Science at Earlham is a dynamic program, with an orientation towards combining experiential education and collaboration with other departments as key components of our approach. We are committed to building an inclusive program that is welcoming to a wide variety of students and faculty. Our students are engaged in a very high level of undergraduate research, application development and system support activity with faculty and the department’s computational systems manager. The typical course load is three courses per semester, with upper-division classes generally having no more than 20 students. The college is a Top 100 National Liberal Arts College located in Richmond, IN, with a symbiotic relationship with the city. Requirements

Hold a Ph.D. in computer science, or a closely related discipline by the start date. Candidates who are ABD or, in exceptional circumstances, have equivalent experience, will also be considered.
Demonstrate experience with and a passion for innovative teaching.
Demonstrate ability to contribute to the advancement of Earlham’s Mission and Principles & Practices.

Responsibilities

Teach courses across the computer science curriculum, such as CS 1, Algorithms, Data Structures, Senior Capstone Project, etc.
Conduct computer science research involving undergraduate students at Earlham.
Contribute to the advancement of Earlham’s Mission and Principles & Practices.
Lead student Applied Groups (highly desirable).

403(b) Retirement – For eligible employees, Earlham will contribute a non-elective contribution equal to 5% of gross pay after 2 years of service. After 3 years of service, this non-elective contribution increases to 8%. Vesting credit is available for new employees with previous service in the education sector with required documentation.
