About The Position

The Department of Surgery, Section of Colorectal Surgery is seeking a fellowship-trained colorectal surgeon for the position of Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice. Candidates must be board eligible or board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. We are seeking candidates with outstanding clinical skills, a collaborative spirit, compassion, and the desire to provide high-quality care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an accredited general residency training program.
  • Completion of an accredited Colon and Rectal Surgery fellowship.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) by the American Board of Surgery.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) by the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
  • Texas Medical license without restrictions.

Responsibilities

  • Providing direct patient care, including surgery, consultative services, outpatient services, and care of hospitalized patients.
  • Participating in teaching activities of the Department including conferences and lectures, bedside teaching, and rounds.
  • Teaching of students and residents in the operating room, clinics, and in-patient services.
  • Continuing medical education.
  • Attending local, regional, and national meetings.
  • Supervising and evaluating residents and students.
  • Participating in committee memberships at the Departmental and Health System levels.
