About The Position

The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) is undergoing growth and transformation, focusing on advancing its mission of delivering high-value care, driving research and innovation, and cultivating excellence in medical education. The department is seeking faculty who are passionate about innovation, collaboration, and shaping the future of healthcare. The Division of General Medicine is dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care for adults through clinical care, education, and research. It plays a key role in advancing primary and hospital-based care by integrating multidisciplinary approaches and emphasizes prevention, chronic disease management, care coordination, and population health. Faculty actively teach medical students, residents, and fellows, and engage in research focused on healthcare delivery innovation, chronic disease outcomes, health equity, and evidence-based practice. UTMB is seeking a full-time ambulatory care physician at the rank of Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice within the Division of General Medicine. This position emphasizes high-quality, patient-centered clinical care, active participation in teaching, and engagement in the academic mission of the department.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine.
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive outpatient care for adult patients with a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions.
  • Supervise and teach medical students, residents, and other learners in a clinical and didactic settings.
  • Participate in departmental quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—including nursing, pharmacy, social work, and rehabilitation—to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, clinical skills training, and academic programs.
