About The Position

The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) is undergoing growth and transformation, focusing on delivering high-value care, driving research and innovation, and cultivating excellence in medical education. The Division of General Medicine is dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care for adults through excellence in clinical care, education, and research. UTMB is seeking a full-time ambulatory care physician at the rank of Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice within the Division of General Medicine. This position emphasizes high-quality, patient-centered clinical care, active participation in teaching, and engagement in the academic mission of the department. The successful candidate will join a dedicated team of faculty focused on improving health outcomes and advancing excellence in medical education.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine.
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Texas.

  • Demonstrated involvement in scholarly activity, quality improvement projects, or curriculum development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive outpatient care for adult patients with a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions.
  • Supervise and teach medical students, residents, and other learners in a clinical and didactic settings.
  • Participate in departmental quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—including nursing, pharmacy, social work, and rehabilitation—to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, clinical skills training, and academic programs.
