About The Position

The Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health) is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Cardiologist with advanced training in Cardiac Imaging to join its expanding academic program. The successful candidate will provide state-of-the-art multimodality cardiovascular imaging services, with expertise in cardiac MRI, cardiac CT, structural echocardiograph and echocardiography. Expertise and interest in nuclear cardiology are highly desirable. The practice is supported by robust UTMB infrastructure, including advanced imaging technology, a multidisciplinary structural heart program, and the newly founded Heart and Vascular Institute. This role offers opportunities for academic engagement, including teaching and mentoring of medical students, residents, and fellows. Candidates with active or developing research programs will have the opportunity to publish research papers, pursue imaging-based scholarly projects, and advance their academic pursuits. The department fosters a collaborative and collegial environment with strong institutional support for innovation in education, research, and clinical care. The successful candidate will engage in meaningful collaborations with faculty across interventional cardiology, cardiac surgery, heart failure, and electrophysiology. This position will be closely integrated into the newly established Sealy Heart and Vascular Institute (SHVI), which unites cardiology, cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, and advanced imaging in a collaborative, multidisciplinary framework. Advanced cardiovascular imaging will be a key pillar of the institute’s mission, and the selected candidate will have an opportunity to help shape the future of imaging innovation, education, and integrated clinical care.

Requirements

  • MD degree (or equivalent)
  • Board certified or eligible in ABIM Cardiovascular Diseases
  • Completed fellowship training in advanced cardiovascular imaging
  • Must possess or be eligible for a full Texas medical license
