About The Position

The University of Miami is seeking an Assistant Professor of Clinical in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, specializing in Anatomic Pathology. This faculty position involves patient care, teaching, and research within the University of Miami Health System. Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O.
  • Board Certified or Board eligible in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, or both.
  • Additional Board Certification or eligibility in Hematopathology.
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida.
  • Strong general knowledge in Hematopathology.
  • Ability to enhance communication and relations in a diverse professional work force.
  • Experience with methods, tools, and measurements for quality improvement using a team-based model.
  • Knowledge of regulations and standards of JCAHO, CAP, and CLIA.
  • Ability to work independently and make reliable recommendations and diagnoses.
  • Knowledge of hospital and service procedures and policies regarding hazardous material management, biohazard exposure, and the use of universal precaution.
  • Proficient in providing excellent diagnostic and laboratory management services for benign and malignant hematopoietic diseases.
  • Committed to teaching and training of residents, fellows, and medical students.
  • Strong record of participation in peer-reviewed clinical and translational research.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care services at UMH, JMH, satellites (JSMC, JNMC, JWMC), and SCCC and satellites, focusing on assigned specialty or specialties.
  • Perform microscopic examinations of hematologic specimens.
  • Report findings and verify coding diagnoses in the computer in a timely manner.
  • Provide 24-hour call coverage according to assigned division/s.
  • Participate in educational activities for pathology residents, fellows, and medical students.
  • Participate in collaborative research opportunities (basic/clinical or applied research).
  • Collaborate with other investigators throughout the Medical Center.
  • Seek sponsored programs funding from grants and contracts.
  • Participate in daily quality assurance.
  • Serve on Department of Pathology hospital committees and working groups.
  • Maintain high standards of professional services to ensure JCAHO/CAP/CLIA accreditation.
