About The Position

The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine, and Pain Management at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (UMMSOM) is seeking exceptional candidates to join its faculty. The Neuroanesthesia and Perioperative Neurosciences Division provides perioperative care to patients undergoing elective and emergency neurosurgical and neuro-interventional procedures at multiple hospitals, including University Miami Hospital, Jackson Memorial Hospital, and Ryder Trauma Center. The division collaborates with neurosurgery and orthopedic surgical services, and complements leading programs like the Christine E. Lynn Rehabilitation Center and the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. Over 1000 spine, 1000 neurological, and 300 neuro-interventional procedures are performed annually under the division's care.

Requirements

  • Completed a US-approved residency in Anesthesiology.
  • A minimum of one year of Neuro-anesthesiology fellowship training or equivalent training and certification.
  • Board Eligibility or Certification in Anesthesiology.
  • Comfortable supervising residents, fellows, CRNAs, and SRNAs.
  • Comfortable performing cases independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Research experience is not required but encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality clinical care, education, and research.
  • Engage in academic activity in clinical/basic research and medical education.
  • Supervise residents, fellows, CRNAs, and SRNAs.
  • Perform cases independently.
  • Participate in the department’s academic activities, including teaching and mentoring trainees and participating in departmental conferences and faculty meetings.
  • Teach residents, fellows, and medical students.
  • Perform some clinical work in general anesthesia as needed.
  • Contribute to patient's perioperative journey and provide optimum care with strong multidisciplinary collaboration.
