About The Position

The Department of Civil Engineering and Construction Management at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is seeking a tenure-track faculty member in Civil Engineering at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will teach Civil Engineering courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and have research interests in Civil Engineering and/or Structural Engineering or a related field. Responsibilities include providing advisement to undergraduates, supervision of graduate students, active and effective participation in curriculum development, assessment, and accreditation, and other departmental activities. Participation in professional student organizations may be required. In addition to teaching, the position requires weekly office hours, attending faculty meetings, participation in assessment of student learning, and service to the department, college, and university. The successful candidate may be required to teach on weekdays, evenings, weekends, and/or online and will be held to the standards and requirements of the college and department for recommending tenure and promotion. Requirements

  • Ph.D. and B.S. in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • ABD (All But Dissertation) candidates will be considered but must complete the doctoral degree before August 19, 2026.
  • Teaching experience or strong potential to teach in Construction Management or Civil Engineering related courses at the College/University level, in-person, and/or online.
  • Published at least two papers in peer-reviewed conferences or journals within the last 5 years.
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
  • Must complete a background check satisfactorily.

  • Participation in grant proposal preparation, either as PI or Co-PI.
