Florida Polytechnic University seeks a tenure-equivalent Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering, beginning August 2027. The growing B.S. in Civil Engineering program is adding depth in structures, and the successful candidate will build a new Minor in Structural Engineering and develop the graduate courses that support it. The faculty member will shape the structures curriculum, establish supporting experimental work, and develop a research program involving students. The position includes teaching undergraduate reinforced concrete design and supporting courses, developing and teaching upper-level and graduate offerings, conducting and supervising laboratory experiments, building an active research program, mentoring students, and contributing to department and University service. The University describes its teaching as applied and project-based, with small classes and emphasis on industry collaboration and applied research. Faculty appointments are renewable, multi-year, tenure-equivalent appointments under a collective bargaining agreement, with reappointment and promotion based on comprehensive review of accomplishments. The position requires a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or a closely related field completed before the start date, and strong knowledge of reinforced-concrete structural analysis, design, and behavior. Compensation is commensurate with experience and rank. The selected candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States at hire and maintain that status. H-1B visa sponsorship is on hold until further notice. Employment is contingent on proof of work eligibility and a background check, which may include Level II screening. Covered positions may also be subject to foreign-influence screening, disclosure, and review requirements.
