About The Position

The Chemistry and Biochemistry Department, in the Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education at the University of Southern Indiana, invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor of Chemistry position to begin January 2027 or August 2027. Primary teaching responsibilities will include organic chemistry and chemistry classes for non-majors like allied health and general education students. Applicants are expected to establish a vigorous research program that involves undergraduates. Modest start-up funds are available.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in organic chemistry or a closely related chemistry discipline.
  • If ABD, doctoral degree must be completed by the end of the first year of employment (by December 31, 2026, if starting January 2027; by July 31, 2027, if starting August 2027).

Responsibilities

  • Teach organic chemistry and chemistry classes for non-majors (e.g., allied health, general education students).
  • Establish a vigorous research program that involves undergraduates.
  • Contribute to the department's teaching, scholarship, and service.
