Requirements

  • Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution
  • Demonstrated ability or strong potential to deliver effective, student-centered instruction in both lecture and laboratory settings
  • Thorough knowledge of laboratory safety regulations, chemical hygiene standards, and best practices for hazardous material management
  • Excellent communication skills and commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment
  • Willingness to engage collaboratively in curriculum review and departmental initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in chemistry, which may include General Chemistry I & II, Organic Chemistry I & II, Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Biochemistry, and/or Environmental Chemistry
  • Develop, supervise, and maintain safe, effective laboratory experiences that reinforce conceptual understanding and build practical skills aligned with professional and graduate-level expectations
  • Enforce and model strict adherence to laboratory safety protocols, chemical handling procedures, and regulatory compliance standards
  • Provide academic mentoring and professional guidance to support student development and preparation for graduate study, professional programs, or careers in the chemical sciences
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, assessment practices, and continuous program improvement
  • Actively participate in departmental, college, and university service activities
  • Pursue ongoing scholarly activity, professional development, and grant opportunities to maintain disciplinary currency and pedagogical effectiveness
  • Report to the Department Chair or designated administrator and contribute to departmental goals
