About The Position

The Department of Biology at Gannon University is seeking a full-time, twelve-month Assistant Professor to begin August 2026. This role involves providing high-quality instruction and contributing to the department's academic offerings. The successful candidate will teach introductory biology, human anatomy and physiology, and microbiology courses throughout the academic year. The position can be either tenure-track or teaching-track. Tenure-track faculty are expected to teach 24 credit hours, engage in scholarship, and adhere to promotion and tenure policies. Teaching-track faculty teach 27 credit hours with no scholarship expectation but are eligible for promotion. Requirements

  • Teaching-track candidates must minimally possess a Master’s degree in Biology or closely-related field.
  • Tenure-track candidates must either hold a doctoral degree in Biology or closely-related field, or earn one by December 31, 2026.
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to be an effective team member.
  • Ability to support and promote the University’s inclusive Mission, its Catholic identity, and its liberal arts and professional education traditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous teaching experience in human anatomy and physiology and microbiology.
  • Experience instructing nursing/health science students.
  • Previous experience in teaching and evidence of teaching effectiveness in higher education.

Responsibilities
