About The Position

The Department of Animal and Pre-Veterinary Studies at the University of Findlay invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Animal Science, starting August 1, 2026. The department serves nearly 600 undergraduate students across three emphases: Industry, Science, and Pre-Vet. The University of Findlay, established in 1882, offers innovative programs grounded in the liberal arts and sciences, preparing students for meaningful lives and productive careers. Its distinctive programs include MBA, animal science, equestrian studies, pre-veterinary medicine, nuclear medicine technology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and physician assistant, as well as environmental, safety and occupational health management. The university provides both traditional and specialized professional degrees through various delivery approaches (day, evening, weekend, online) and is committed to educating a diverse student body, enrolling over 3,700 students from nearly 40 nations and most US states. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Animal Science (or terminal degree in a related agricultural field)
  • Degree must be conferred by August 1, 2026 (for ABD candidates)
  • Prior teaching experience
  • Willingness and desire to advise undergraduate students in Animal Science
  • Commitment to student-centered education
  • Commitment to continued high-quality professional development
  • Commitment to service to the university and community
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize digital technologies for course design and delivery
  • Ability to develop and manage an undergraduate research program in a field compatible with resources available (for tenure-track candidates)
  • A highly qualified and experienced candidate who holds a master’s degree in Animal Science or related field may also be considered for a full-time, non-tenure track position

  • Expertise in animal nutrition, companion animals, and/or animal behavior and welfare

Responsibilities

  • Teach a variety of courses in Animal Sciences
  • Advise undergraduate students in Animal Science
