About The Position

The Department of Animal and Food Sciences at Oklahoma State University invites applications for an 11-month tenure-track position (60% Extension and 40% research) in animal reproduction at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position carries the expectation of excellence in Extension and applied research commensurate with the land grant mission of Oklahoma State University. The successful candidate will develop and lead a nationally recognized, impactful Extension program addressing reproductive management challenges in livestock production systems, while establishing an externally funded, applied research program that informs and complements Extension programming.

Requirements

Ph.D. in Animal Science or a closely related field.
Documented interest, experience and appreciation of production agriculture.
Demonstrated knowledge of livestock reproductive physiology and management.
Commitment to both Extension and research.
Ability to qualify for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor.

Responsibilities

Deliver programming through county educator trainings, workshops, field days, hands-on trainings, webinars, and one-on-one producer consultations.
Develop peer-reviewed educational resources such as Extension publications, fact sheets, decision-support tools, and digital and social media content to disseminate to county educators, producers, agribusiness professionals, and allied industry stakeholders.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with county/regional Extension educators, producer organizations, breed and livestock associations, and agricultural industry partners.
Establish an innovative, applied research program in animal reproduction that addresses priority challenges of the state's livestock industries and complements Extension programming.
Publish research findings in appropriate scientific journals.
Secure extramural funding from industry, federal agencies, or other granting sources, to support Extension programming efforts, research activities, and graduate student training.
