About The Position

Rocky Vista University (RVU) is seeking an Assistant Professor of Anatomy for its Ivins, UT campus. This full-time position involves teaching, service, research, and scholarly activities. The role includes delivering lectures in gross anatomy, embryology, histology, and neuroanatomy, as well as assisting in gross anatomy labs. Requirements

  • Terminal degree in the appropriate field from an accredited institution with current Board Certification in appropriate area of specialization if applicable.
  • One (1) year of academic experience as a full-time faculty member at a medical school or three (3) years of academic experience as a full-time faculty member in an institution of higher education.
  • Demonstrated productivity in the areas of clinical or professional service, scholarly activity, medical research, or education.
  • Good standing with all regulatory and governmental boards and agencies.
  • Eligible for coverage by college’s malpractice insurer if applicable.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in the delivery of medical education.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in the area of studied expertise.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of varied curriculum templates.
  • Demonstrate ability to mentor and motivate students and peers.
  • Ability to orally communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing, using the English language.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and supervisory staffs at all levels.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of academic experience as a full-time faculty member at a College of Osteopathic Medicine or five (5) years of academic experience as a full-time faculty member in an institution of higher education.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in professional or educational settings.
  • Demonstrations of published works of scholarly activity.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in the education and instruction of medical students and other health care professional students.
  • Provide mentorship and motivation for learning, research, and scholarly activity in various educational settings.
  • Establish and maintain scheduled office hours for student advising, tutoring, remediation, and consultation.
  • Provide professional and clinical services in ascertained clinical settings consistent with training and degree if applicable.
  • Serve the university community and students through academic program and department committees.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and expertise to students.
  • Participate in community outreach events and with professional organizations or groups.
  • Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and modification.
  • Participate in the assessment and evaluation of students and residents, provide feedback and remedial assistance.
  • Participate in the assessment or evaluation of, and provide feedback to, other members of the faculty.
  • Maintain a personal and professional development plan and portfolio.
  • Demonstrate the highest standard of professionalism and ethical behavior.
  • Demonstrate and role model an ongoing ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors, and support staff.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and the willingness to assist the university and college in fulfilling its mission and vision.
  • Advance the prestige of the university and college.
  • Other duties as assigned by the SU Campus Dean or his/her designee.
