About The Position

Chamberlain University, with over 135 years in healthcare education, is the largest nursing school in the country, dedicated to providing a high-value education that prepares students to thrive as healthcare professionals through its Chamberlain Care® commitment. The university comprises the College of Nursing and the College of Health Professions, offering various degree programs from Bachelor of Science in Nursing to Doctor of Nursing Practice, Master in Public Health, Master of Social Work, and Master of Physician Assistant Studies. Chamberlain operates on a hybrid schedule with four in-office days per week (Monday–Thursday) to foster creativity, innovation, communication, and relationship-building. The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. This position seeks superior instructors, primarily Industry Professionals, to develop long-term relationships and share their knowledge and experience with undergraduate and graduate students. Courses meet once or twice a week for eight weeks, blending face-to-face interaction with online technologies for an enhanced learning environment. The commitment is on a course-by-course basis. This role specifically involves teaching the Anatomy & Physiology I-IV with Lab (BIOS-251 thru BIOS-256) sequence, which is a four-course series studying human anatomy and physiology using a body systems approach. Coursework emphasizes the interrelationships between form and function at gross and microscopic levels, covering topics such as basic anatomical terminology, cell biology, integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, special senses, endocrine, cardiovascular, immune, respiratory, digestive, urinary, and reproductive systems. On-site requirements include courses meeting two times per week, scheduled Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday between 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM or 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree is required for all faculty positions (with 18 graduate hours in the subject being taught for undergraduate teaching).
  • Faculty must have requisite subject matter expertise and outstanding communication skills.
  • Faculty must also have excellent motivational and instructional skills in a diverse and non-traditional environment.
  • Must be able to work in a collegial manner and facilitate the efforts of diverse groups.
  • Additional requirements driven by state licensing or accreditation considerations may apply.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and provides students with an approved Covista syllabus that follows a template established by the local campus, and which includes the terminal course objectives.
  • Organizes, prepares, and regularly revises and update all course materials.
  • Uses appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including Websites, e-mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
  • Models effective oral and written communications that engage the students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.
  • Sets clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examinations dates, and weight the distribution of various evaluation categories.
  • Ensures that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.
  • Demonstrates consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams, and provide timely feedback to students.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
